Lemon balm (common balm)- benefits
The use of lemon balm is practically unlimited. Many experts suggest that it has no contraindications.
Lemon balm has antispasmodic, antimicrobial and antidepressant properties. It is recommended to all nervous disorders, heart diseases, and indigestion. It is used in the preparation of lotions and creams for an aging and sensitive skin.
Most often lemon balm is used in the preparation of infusion or tea. The healing effect is due to its ethereal oils.
They are synthesized in the tender leaves of the plant itself and make up about 0.33% of the composition of cellular structures. Namely, oils provide a relaxing and so-called calming effect - they contain the components: citral, citronellal, geraniol, as well as vitamin C, tanning components, organic acids, and resins.
