Dandruff
is a common scalp condition that is characterized by itching and appearance of
white flakes of dead skin. Dandruff (also called ‘pityriasis capitis’) is an
uninflamed form of seborrhoeic
dermatitis.
The
condition occurs equally in men and women and although unpleasant, it can be
controlled fairly easily with some home remedies. Here are some ways to deal
effectively with the problem:
Massage with warm oils
Dry
scalp and poor blood circulation are among the possible causes of dandruff and if this is the case, massage with
warm oil can be very helpful. Heat a little olive oil or coconut oil, mix it
with lemon juice and massage your scalp with the mixture. Allow the oil to act
about 20 minutes, then brush the hair and scalp with shampoo.
Wash your hair properly
According
to experts, the use of anti-dandruff shampoo daily can reduce sebum secretion
and thus reduce " so called fat"
dandruff.
If
your dandruff is caused by oily skin, the use of tar soap / shampoo is also
recommended. If dandruff is
"dry" wash your hair with shampoo, two to three times a week,
leaving the shampoo to work, at least for five minutes before rinsing.
Treatment with herbs and natural remedies
Since
dandruff is often caused by poor blood scalp circulation, it is possible to
nourish and strengthen circulation in this area by using certain herbs.
A
good combination for skin nourishing, hair and nails is seaweed, horsetail,
sage and rosemary. Other herbs that can help are ginkgo biloba, and alfalfa,
which is rich in silicon.
Some
natural healers recommend the preparation of a solution of two heaped teaspoons
thyme, boiled 10 minutes in water - one tea cup. Cool the solution and apply it
on a clean, damp hair. Allow it to dry on your hair. It is believed that thyme
destroys bacteria and reduces flaking of the skin.
Dandruff
also can occur in people, who generally
have dry scalp. In other cases, dandruff occurs when you suffer from a disease called seborrhea. Dandruff has
traditionally been treated with special shampoos. But we know they sometimes have
the opposite effect. So the easiest and safe way to deal with annoying dandruff is by turning to nature. Here
