Imagine you wake up one morning, feeling yourself a
little more stiff than usual…..but you try quickly to dispel this thought with
the first cup of coffee. This stiffness is starting to tease you every morning and your knees begin to
"crack" and hurt when getting out of bed.
Sometimes your movements
are harder and you have acute joint pains and swelling. Can this be warning
sign or indication of degenerative arthritis?
Well, if you are over 50, then your chances increase. The same is true if you're
energetic young man.
The word comes from greek - "arthir"
(joint) and "itis (inflammation). Arthritis is a joint disorder caused by
inflammation. Symptoms are pain and discomfort restricting your movements.
There are two main types of
diseases of the joints. Let's pay a little more attention to:
Osteoarthritis
Cartilage forms protective substance toward the
end of your bones, where they are binded to the joints. When the cartilage
between the joints begins to wear out, your body tries to solve the problem by
producing bone formations (by stretching or contraction of the tendons) - this is what causes
the pain.
Osteoarthritis is an inflammation of the bones and joints, usually appearing in elderly people,
but can also be hereditary, due to injury or it may appear in obese people.
Rheumatoid arthritis
The exact cause of rheumatoid arthritis still
remains a mystery, but according to many experts it’s an inflammatory
"response" of the body, where the immune system reacts instantly to inflammatory
infections. It has the same symptoms as osteoarthritis, but makes joints swollen, fragile.
Treatment and Side Effects
As often happens, patients
suffering from arthritis are on the losing side when it comes to side effects
and commercial treatment.
One of the particularly shocking statistic shows
that patients spend one third of their monthly incomes to treat stomach
ailments, caused by arthritis medicines. So, why not to looking for alternative
treatments with herbs and home remedies, with no side effects.
